API Water Softener Pillow, Filtration Media to Reduce General Hardness

WATER SOFTENER PILLOW works to lower calcium and magnesium levels, and also removes heavy metals and reduces white, crusty mineral deposits on aquarium surfaces. WATER SOFTENER PILLOW can be reused after it is recharged in a salt solution. Use when starting or maintaining an aquarium when testing indicates water hardness above the desired level. Use according to directions on product packaging.

Use the API GH & KH TEST KIT to measure general hardness. When keeping a community aquarium, the general hardness should be between 3-6°. (For other types of aquariums, see the test kit insert for desired ranges of water hardness.) Rinse pouch under tap water. Place pouch in path of water flow in the aquarium filter. Activity of the pillow lasts 48 hours. After 48 hours, recharging is necessary. To recharge: dissolve 3 Tbsp. of API AQUARIUM SALT in 7 oz. of tap water. Rinse pouch in tap water, then soak in salt solution for 2 hrs. Place back in filter; no need to rinse. When not in use, store pouch in recharging solution; do not let pillow dry out. Replace when WATER SOFTENER PILLOW ceases to function properly after recharging.
